Grand Theft Auto Online has always been a mix of thrilling missions and chaotic mayhem. But for years, it’s also faced a persistent problem: cheaters. In response, Rockstar Games has now introduced BattlEye anti-cheat software to GTA Online, a big move to create a fairer, more secure gaming experience.
BattlEye, already used in games like Rainbow Six Siege and PUBG, monitors for cheats and modded files, aiming to keep hackers from disrupting the game. This is a major step towards solving the rampant cheating issues that have frustrated players for years, from teleportation hacks to invincible players.
The good news for modders is that BattlEye can be disabled when playing GTA V's Story Mode, allowing for single-player mods to continue without problems. However, players won’t be able to access GTA Online without BattlEye enabled.
While this anti-cheat update brings significant improvements, there are some drawbacks. Players using Steam Deck or Linux face compatibility issues, as these systems don’t currently support BattlEye for GTA Online
Ultimately, Rockstar’s addition of BattlEye marks a turning point, promising a cleaner, more enjoyable online experience for its massive player base. Could this be the start of even more exciting updates for GTA Online? Only time will tell.
